What if your kids could learn real farm science, right from your city home?

Most kids today don’t know where their food comes from or how to care for God’s creation.
With City to Soil, you can change that.

This isn’t just another homeschool science book. It’s a hands-on, faith-filled journey into livestock, stewardship, and purpose.
No barn. No acreage. Just your kitchen table, a Bible, and an open heart.

Frequently Asked Questions about the City to Soil Parent Guide

Is this printed, online, or an app?

City to Soil is a digital PDF curriculum. Families download it after purchase and may print lessons.

Is City to Soil aligned with Common Core, NGSS, C3, or other public-school standards?

No. City to Soil is intentionally designed outside of public-school standards, including Common Core, NGSS, and C3. The curriculum supports the freedom homeschooling families have to educate their children according to their convictions and values. Rather than teaching to institutional benchmarks, City to Soil focuses on real-world science, hands-on learning, and biblical stewardship, forming understanding, responsibility, and character through God’s creation.

Is this still real science?

Yes. Biology, ecosystems, animal care, observation, and stewardship are inherently science-based. City to Soil teaches science through direct experience and application of how science has been learned for generations.

Who created City to Soil?

City to Soil was created by a farmer and homeschooling mother. This hands-on, real-world approach, particularly through working with livestock and caring for living systems, is the very foundation on which she homeschooled her own children.

Do you use or rely on third-party curricula or vendors?

No. All City-to-Soil materials are original and developed specifically for faith-based homeschool families.

Is City to Soil a good fit for our family?

City to Soil is ideal for families who want:

-Faith-rooted science

-Hands-on, real-world learning

-Education that builds stewardship and responsibility

-Freedom from public-school frameworks

If you are looking for a standards-aligned or classroom-style curriculum, this program may not be the right fit—and that’s okay.

About Mary T. Bowen -

Founder of City to Soil™ | Faithful Farmer | Homeschool Mom & Grandmother Educator

Hi, I’m Mary T. Bowen— founder of City to Soil™. For years, I’ve opened my farm to families and watched children who’d never stepped on a pasture come alive when they touched a goat, planted a seed, or saw where food really comes from. Those moments inspired me to create a program that brings the same experience to families everywhere.

Now, as a grandmother, I have the joy of helping teach my own grandchildren, seeing firsthand how faith and creation learning together spark curiosity, confidence, and gratitude.

City to Soil™ was born to help Christian homeschool parents and faith-driven families (like you!) teach real-world, biblical science without needing a farm, lab coat, or hours of prep. Because when your child’s education aligns with your values and connects God’s Word with His creation, it grows far more than knowledge; it cultivates wisdom, wonder, and stewardship for life.
